About
The Dirigo Hockey League is a competitive adult hockey league based in central Maine, designed for players with fast-paced experience. Most participants are former varsity high school athletes, with many also having played at the NCAA, junior, or prep school level. The league offers skilled, organized play in a respectful, player-first environment, ideal for those looking to compete hard, and enjoy the game with others who’ve played at a serious level.
The Fall/Winter season begins on September 21, 2025, and runs every Sunday through March 1, 2026, with 21 weeks of regular season play followed by 2 weeks of playoffs. No games will be scheduled on Super Bowl Sunday.
The Dirigo Hockey League reflects the values of the state we proudly call home. Maine’s motto, Dirigo (“I lead”), represents the independence and integrity we aim to uphold. This league is for the players and not driven by politics or profit. Leadership in Dirigo means listening, prioritizing fair play, and putting respect at the center of everything we do. We strive to create a space where players can grow, compete, and enjoy hockey without being overlooked or overcharged.
The duties of a “League Commissioner” are carried out by the Dirigo Hockey Committee. Each team appoints one representative to serve on the committee and to participate in official league matters.
